  • Using solar energy lessens your carbon footprint on the planet, thus preserving our environment.
  • Use a plug in the basin to help save on the amount of hot water you use.

  • Remember to boil only as much water as you need for that morning cuppa tea or coffee.
  • Take food out of the freezer for dinner and put in the fridge to thaw.  It'll save you using the microwave to defrost it later.
  • Unplug that cellphone charger before you leave the house!  It draws electricity even if your phone isn't plugged in.
  • Cook smart - use lids and ensure that the pot or pan completely covers the stove plate.
  • Cook in the microwave whenever you can, it is the most efficient cooking appliance.
  • Don't use your air conditioners, rather open a window and let in a fresh breeze.
  • Don't forget to turn your geyser on before you go to bed and turn it off before you leave for work in the morning.
  • If you have an electric geyser, keep your hot morning shower short.  You'll lighten the load on the morning peak and save water too.
  • Heaters use a huge amount of electricity.  A gas heater is much more economical.
  • Swimming pools use 11% of a home's electricity.  Reduce running time of the pump from 10 to 6 hours per day for a month and save 40%.
