SECTOR POLICING

Sector Policing was introduced into the Bedfordview area by the SAPS and the BCPF as the Bedfordview SAPS serves an extensive area of Ekurhuleni i.e. from Eastgate to Elandsfontein.

Sector 2 : Area from Van Buuren Road – RAG area – Douglas Road - St Benedicts School – Riley Road - Wilbart

• The RAG area falls under Sector 2

The Aim of creating sectors:

• To form 3 sectors within the area covered by the Bedfordview Police Station whereby each sector will have 2 dedicated police vehicles with cell phones 24/7 patrolling the Sector 2 area.

• Residents needing the police, are able to call one of the SAPS vehicles dedicated to their Sector. There is no need to call the Bedfordview Police Station.

THE DEDICATED CELL PHONE NUMBERS FOR THE RAG AREA ARE 071 675 6887 or 071 675 6888

For any queries, please phone the RAG OFFICE on 011 455 4120

RAG/SESS SPECIAL OFFER FOR SECURITY R450 inclusive price For New Members only.

RAG/SESS SPECIAL OFFER FOR SECURITY R450 inclusive price for NEW Members ONLY!!!!!

RAG/SESS SPECIAL OFFER FOR SECURITY R450 inclusive price for NEW Members only!!!!!!
RAG (The Residents Action Group) is a Section 21 company, which administers and provides security in the restricted access area of upper Bedfordview, demarcated by Kloof Road, Van Buuren and Townsend Road. SESS is the security provider employed by RAG to provide PRO ACTIVE (patrolling) and RE ACTIVE (response to the activation of a SESS alarm system) security in the RAG area. The RAG membership fees are used to pay SESS for the services they deliver to the RAG area. SPECIAL OFFER:RAG/SESS is offering an inclusive price of R450.00 per residence within road closures and complexes, which includes RAG membership and SESS, armed response. This special offer is made to assist residents residing in road closures/complexes to reduce the high security costs incurred. The offer includes:
  • RAG membership.
  • SESS armed response linked to the RAG/CONTROL room.
WHY JOIN RAG?   RAG offers: Dedicated 24 x 7 pro-active security for the RAG area
  • 24 x 7 patrolling using 2 dedicated patrol vehicles
  • 6 armed response officers who check suspicious vehicles, pedestrians and all other aspects of security.
  • A dedicated control room (exclusively for RAG members) operated 24 x 7.
  • A dedicated security manager at Belgravia Bowling Club to manage the RAG area.
What more could you need! Have you considered if other security companies provide this service? REACTIVE SECURITY FROM RAG/SESS:    RAG MEMBERS ONLY (Response to the activation of an alarm system).
  1. As a RAG member, SESS will connect your existing alarm system to the RAG/SESS control room
  2. Armed response is included in the R450.00 offer (previously separate price).
  3. Upon activation of the alarm system or panic button, the dedicated SESS vehicles (paid for by the RAG membership fee you pay) will respond to the call within 4/5 minutes.
  4. SESS and RAG work closely with the Head of the Sector 2 Police and the Metro Police and the BCPF.
5.   RAG has outsourced two independent alarm contractors to install alarm systems      and attend to any alarm problems.  This has proved most successful, alleviating the      installation problems experienced previously. Active and Dedicated RAG Committee
  • Residents of the Bedfordview RAG area whose primary goal is to secure our neighbourhood
  • Committee and administrative office which keeps you up to date on crime stats and security trends as well as community happenings in the RAG area.
  • Has direct access to important Ekurhuleni Metro resources through various council structures, including Councillor Michele Clarke.
  • Members of Bedfordview Community Policing Forum to enable access to important SAPS and Metro Police structures.
  • Actively promoting a sense of community through initiatives such as “Taking back the Mountain”, Meetings on Crime and Thirsty Thursdays (social evenings).
But our resources are limited.  SECURITY COMES AT A PRICE.  RAG needs more revenue to put additional vehicles onto the road, install cameras, and close off certain main entry/exit roads.  In consultation with the Roads Department, RAG has been advised to submit a new application for the proposed closing off of and zoning of certain areas within the RAG area.  This will be at the discretion of the Roads and Legal Department. The Roads department is not in favour of the small street closures being applied for in the RAG area. This will be an enormous undertaking, for which we will require the residents’ participation. SUPPORT YOUR COMMUNITY SECURITY INITIATIVE RATHER THAN THE BIGGER COMPANIES WHERE YOU ARE JUST A NUMBER.  RAG OFFICE011 455 4120
